Pertino Joins the Open Networking Foundation to Push SDN Adoption into High Gear

We've reinvented networking for the cloud era and we want people to know how they can benefit. That's why we've joined forces with the Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a user-driven organization that's committed to accelerating the adoption of SDN (software-defined networking).

Hardware-based networking had its day, but things are moving forward. With SDN, IT pros have more programmability and control, and businesses enjoy lower operational costs, more agility and easier management. As IT pros grapple with the connectivity demands of a rapidly-expanding remote workforce, along with security concerns related to the growing bring-your-own-device (BYOD) movement, SDN is key for enabling dynamic, reliable remote management.

Our membership with ONF will let us collaborate with over 100 companies that each have a unique expertise and perspective on cloud computing, software, and telecom. Working with ONF, we'll strengthen our ability to tell the IT world how SDN can boost their capabilities and free up valuable time.

If you haven't heard about the benefits of SDN, you're not alone. With so many approaches to Northbound Interfaces (NBI), SDN adoption hasn't hit full speed. ONF’s NBI Working Group is ramping things up by developing information models for select open interfaces for specific use cases. This will help the industry develop popular or standard approaches for SDN programmability. As a result, developers and end-users will enjoy a simplified implementation process, allowing SDN adoption to really take off.

At Pertino, we've generated more than 3,000 cloud-based networks on our SDN-powered Cloud Network Engine platform. With expertise in SDN and network service virtualization technologies, we're well positioned to contribute to ONF in a meaningful way.

Cloud and mobile are transforming the IT world, and ONF is driving more innovation, greater simplification and deeper integration to meet every new challenge. We're proud to be a part of this group and looking forward to adding considerable firepower to the cause.
